At least 11 individuals have been on Saturday reported killed and several other others injured when a large crane collapsed on the Hindustan Shipyard Limited premises.

The mishap occurred round 12 midday when officers have been testing the crane.

Over 20 individuals have been engaged on the spot when the crane broke and fell on its aspect, crushing many employees.

TV visuals confirmed the large crane falling on the bottom with a loud thud.

Four individuals are mentioned to be common workers, whereas the remaining six are contract employees.

District authorities rushed to the spot and took inventory of the scenario.

Rescue efforts are underway, some employees are believed to be trapped underneath the collapsed crane.
