The US has set yet another record for single-day Covid cases after more than 2,44,000 people tested positive for Covid, as the country, currently the hardest-hit by the pandemic, is preparing the distribution of the Pfizer vaccine against the disease. The nation reported 3,013 fatalities. The overall infection tally and death toll stand at 1,60,45,596 and 2,97,789, respectively.
Pakistan has increased funds for Covid vaccine to $250 mn. Earlier, it had approved $150 million.
Meanwhile, Germany has tightened lockdown rules over Christmas. Authorities are closing several stores and schools, and further limiting social contacts in an effort to drive down the Covid cases. Germany recorded 20,200 new cases and 321 deaths on Sunday. — Agencies
