Washington companions with Mekong nations

The Trump administration has introduced the formidable Mekong-US partnership which goals to curb China’s rising affect in Southeast Asia and promote financial independence of companion nations.

Apart from the US, the coalition contains Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam from Southeast Asia. It was formally launched after a digital assembly on September 11.

The Mekong-US partnership displays the significance of the Mekong area to the United States, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo mentioned. He added that these efforts will embody working carefully with Japan, Australia, South Korea, India, and different like-minded companions.

“Our relationship with Mekong partner countries is an integral part of our Indo-Pacific vision and our strategic partnership with ASEAN,” he mentioned. — PTI
