Rain-triggered landslide kills 11 folks in Nepal


Kathmandu, September 13

A large landslide triggered by torrential rains in central Nepal has killed a minimum of 11 folks, together with seven girls, and left 20 lacking, an official stated on Sunday.

The landslide swept away some 15 homes in Bhirkharka space of Barhabise Rural Municipality in Sindhupalchowk district, 120 kilometres east of Kathmandu, on Saturday evening.

A safety staff comprising the Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel has been dispatched to the incident website for finishing up search and rescue operation, the official stated.

The our bodies of 11 folks, together with seven girls, have been recovered from the positioning and search operations have been happening to rescue the lacking folks, in line with the house ministry.

The landslide occurred because of incessant rainfall within the space for the previous couple of days. Some 247 homes have been recognized as dangerous because of landslide within the space which lies close to Nepal-Tibet border.

The incident occurred as the federal government didn’t act promptly regardless of the native residents demanding that they be shifted to safer areas.

This is the second landslide that hit Barhabise rural municipality space this monsoon.

At least 249 folks have misplaced their lives and 49 others have gone lacking in numerous incidents of landslide in Nepal this monsoon season. PTI
