Lots of lifeless in Ethiopia’s Tigray flare-up, say sources

Gondar (Ethiopia), November 9

Conflict in Ethiopia’s Tigray region, where federal troops have launched an offensive after accusing local forces of attacking a military base last week, have killed hundreds of people, military sources say.

A military official in the neighbouring Amhara region told Reuters clashes had killed nearly 500 Tigrayan forces, while another three security sources said the Ethiopian army had also lost hundreds defending the base.

Reuters has been unable to verify numbers, though a diplomat also said hundreds were believed to have died.
