Key suspect held in assault on former Maldives president


Colombo, May 9

The Maldives police said on Sunday that they had arrested a person believed to be the prime suspect in an explosion that critically wounded the country’s former president. The attack was blamed on Muslim extremists.

Ex-president Mohamed Nasheed is recovering in a hospital after multiple surgeries. Police did not give details of the latest suspect or his background. — Agencies
