Johannesburg, July 11
Five folks had been killed and hostages had been being held at a church west of Johannesburg, South African police stated on Saturday.
Police stated in a press release on Twitter that they had been alerted to a “hostage situation and shooting” within the early hours of the morning on the International Pentecost Holiness Church in Zuurbekom.
Thirty arrests had been made and greater than 25 firearms seized, police stated, including hostage negotiators had been nonetheless on the scene.
Police didn’t say why or what number of hostages had been taken.
Television station eNCA stated there had been a management dispute on the church and cited a church official as saying roughly 200 folks had been taken hostage. Reuters
