eight killed in Indonesia earthquake

Malang, April 11

A strong earthquake killed eight persons and damaged more than 1,300 buildings in Java, Indonesia, officials said on Sunday. The US Geological Survey said the magnitude 6.0 quake struck off the island’s southern coast at 2 pm on Saturday. It was centered 45 kilometers south of Sumberpucung town at a depth of 82 kilometers (51 miles). — AP
