China’s retrieved lunar samples weigh lower than goal

Beijing: Lunar rocks retrieved by a historic Chinese mission weighed less than initially targeted, but China is still willing to study the samples with foreign scientists. China became the third country to secure lunar samples when its unmanned Chang’e-5 probe brought back 1.731 kg (3.8 lb) of samples last month, falling short of the 2 kg (4.4 lb) planned. Reuters

Britain sets out new laws to protect monuments

London: The UK has unveiled new laws to protect England’s cultural and historic heritage in the form of statues and monuments. The move comes in the wake of Black Lives Matter protests in the country last year targeting several monuments, including with graffiti on Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament Square in London. PTI
