China on Friday welcomed the historic UAE-Israel deal to determine full diplomatic relations that might see Israel halt the controversial annexation of elements of the West Bank, saying it’s “pleased” to see measures aimed toward de-escalating tensions within the Middle East.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian throughout a media briefing stated, “China noted the relevant rapports including the contents that Israel suspends the annexations of Palestinian territory and its commitment to reach a comprehensive fair and lasting agreement to the Palestinian issue.”

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated the Chinese place on the Palestinian situation is constant and clear.
