New Delhi, July 25

A batch of Afghan Sikhs, together with Nidan Singh, who was lately in captivity, is scheduled to reach right here tomorrow afternoon on the idea of journey paperwork issued by India. The Indian Embassy in Kabul facilitated the motion of 11 nationals and they are going to be granted long-term visas on arrival, authoritative sources instructed The Tribune.

Nidan Singh was kidnapped in Paktia province of Afghanistan in June and launched from captivity final week. The batch is scheduled to reach on a non-public air provider from Afghanistan, with the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee offering an enterprise to the Centre to handle their keep and boarding at a gurdwara.

Earlier this week, responding to questions on whether or not there have been any plans to offer Afghan Sikhs and Hindu Indian citizenship, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Anurag Srivastava had mentioned the federal government had been receiving requests from members of those communities to permit them to cool down in India. “Despite the Covid-19 situation, India has been facilitating these requests,” Srivastava mentioned.
