ASEAN discusses South China Sea

Hanoi, September 9

Southeast Asia’s prime diplomats held their annual talks by way of videoconferencing on Wednesday to debate the immense disaster wrought by Covid and rising tensions within the South China Sea amid the escalating rivalry between Washington and Beijing.

When the territorial conflicts had been mentioned, “concerns were expressed on the land reclamations, activities and serious incidents in the area,” the ministers mentioned in a draft communique. — AP
