Nature blooms, weather turns pleasant and then there is Valentine’s Day. A pandemic, restriction on world travel, six- feet distance and a mask at all times, the past year has been tough for couples. So, Valentine’s Day arrives as a breath of fresh air. While virtual dates have seen a sudden upsurge, we don’t think lovers are going to sit this one out. We take stock of the events that are happening in and around the city to make this day a memorable one.
Lock your love
Elante Mall has installed Venetian Bridge Décor at the central atrium of the Mall to give that exotic feel in the city. Couples can take pictures and there’s an activity called Love Lock, one of those things where couples lock an object mostly on bridges, trains and railways to represent that their love is unbreakable.
Raise a toast
A wine and cheese event is happening at Reef. A fashion blogger and makeup artist Naaz Arora in collaboration with marketing expert Divya Oswal has put together a romantic evening. Naaz says, “We have a ‘Kissing Booth’ and a cake-cutting ceremony to ring in the Valentine’s flavour.”
Movie under the stars
If experiencing something new is on your mind, how about cinema under the stars? “We are doing exquisite candle-light dinner at the Cafe where everything is decorated with rose petals, and for the drive-in we are showing the movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan,” say Arpit Singh and Anhad Singh, owners of Piccadilia Theatre Cafe, a newly launched Drive-in theatre. A special screening of romantic drama movies like Qismat (Punjabi), Jab We Met and Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani will also be held in PVR Elante, Chandigarh throughout the day.
Food for love
February for multiple reasons is a favourite month for the lovebirds. And to make this month a truly memorable one, The Great Bear brings a Romantic Food Festival. The festival will be on till February 21. The festival will also run concurrently at the group’s microbrewery, Hops n Grains at Panchkula.
Live shows are back with Punjabi singers like Manpreet Buttar and Singga having set the tone for the big day with performances at The Jungle Bar and The Boathouse.
