Thalaivi will get postponed

The release date of Kanana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivi has been postponed as the makers released an official statement confirming the same on Friday. The actress also shared the news on her Twitter handle. The alarming rise in Covid-19 cases across the nation has led to the postponing of the release. The movie was slated to release on April 23 but the latest regulations laid down by the government have led to the shutdown of theatres.

The official Twitter account of Zee Studios issued a brief stating the postponing of the movie. The tweet read, “#Thalaivi has always been about people first and in these times, people and their safety comes first. Stay safe everyone! We will be back soon!”

The movie is a multilingual film that will release in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It is helmed by ALVijay and also stars Arvind Swami, Prakash Raj, Madhoo and Bhagyashree in pivotal roles. For the unversed, the movie is based on the life of Jayalalithaa, a politician and film actress who served six times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
