Netizens kick up a storm, reacting to information of the potential ban on social media giants

Social media giants such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram may face a ban in India if they fail to comply with the new intermediary guidelines set by the government for social media platforms. The three-month deadline given by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, to accept these guidelines, ended on Tuesday (May 25) and the social media platforms have not accepted the new regulations so far. While we wait for these platforms to revert, the internet is exploding with all kinds of reactions. Funny memes, creative GIFs, tweets and Instagram reels have been trending since the last two days.

Aparshakti Khurana took to Instagram and shared a picture of himself. His caption read, “Thinking now that social media platforms are getting banned, maybe we should refer to the hobbies section of our resumes for some ideas to kill our time.” TV actress Ashnoor Kaur decided to enact a situational reel on the tunes of London Thumakda.

Bigg Boss-fame Aly Goni also voiced his thoughts about how this ban might affect people by making them jobless. Meanwhile, singer Amruta Fadnavis also shared her views and tweeted, “The most dangerous weapon on earth is violent social media and the most destructive weapon on earth is spurious social media #TwitterIndia.”
