Wholesale inflation rises to 27-mth excessive


New Delhi: The wholesale price-based inflation rose for the second consecutive month to a 27-month high of 4.17% in February, as food, fuel and power prices spiked. The WPI inflation was 2.03% in January and 2.26% in February last year. After witnessing months of softening of prices, the food articles in February saw 1.36% inflation. In January it was (-) 2.80%. Exports up 0.67%, trade deficit widens

New Delhi: India’s exports grew marginally by 0.67% to $27.93 billion in February while imports rose by 6.96% to $40.54 billion in the month, according to official data released on Monday. The trade deficit widened to $12.62 billion in February compared to year-ago period. Exports during April-February 2020-21 period contracted by 12.23% to $256.18 billion. PTI
