The rupee appreciated 10 paise to 74.92 towards the US greenback in opening commerce on Monday, monitoring constructive home equities.
The home foreign money had settled at 75.02 towards the US greenback on Friday.
Forex merchants stated constructive opening in home equities and international fund inflows supported the rupee.
However, strengthening American foreign money and rising COVID-19 circumstances weighed on the native unit, they added.
The greenback index, which gauges the dollar’s energy towards a basket of six currencies, rose 0.15 per cent to 96.08.
On the home fairness market entrance, the 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex was buying and selling 370.11 factors larger at 37,390.25, and the broader NSE Nifty rose 108.35 factors to 11,010.05.
