The authorities on Wednesday stated it has made FASTag obligatory for availing all reductions on National Highways toll plazas. It has issued a gazette notification on this regard.
“The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has made the use of FASTag mandatory for availing return journey discount or any other exemptions on Toll Fee Plazas. Users who wish to claim a discount for making return journey within 24 hours or any other local exemptions, shall be required to have a valid functional FASTag on the vehicle,” MoRTH stated in a press release.
It stated that is one other step in the direction of selling using digital funds on price plazas of National Highways. The price payable in the direction of such reductions shall be paid by way of pre-paid devices, sensible card or by way of FASTag or on board unit (transponder) or some other such machine solely, it stated.
The authorities stated the amendments to the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates and Collection) Rules, 2008 on this regard would allow low cost on return journey inside 24 hours and it could be by way of FASTag or such different machine and can be automated with no requirement for a move.
It will even be sure that reductions in all different circumstances having a sound FASTag, is made crucial.
“The amendment would also enable that in cases where there is a discount available for a return journey within 24 hours, there is no need for a prior receipt or intimation and the citizen would get the discount automatically if return journey is made within 24 hours with a valid and a functional FASTag on the vehicle,” the assertion stated.
A FASTag is a tool that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) know-how for making toll funds straight from the pay as you go or financial savings account linked to it and is affixed on the windscreen of the automobile and allows the commuter to drive by way of toll plazas, with out stopping for money transactions.
