42 arrested for playing in Goa seashore village

Forty-two individuals had been arrested following a playing raid by the Goa Police within the seashore village of Calangute in North Goa, a spokesperson mentioned on Sunday.

The North Goa district police, which carried out the raid on the lodge Karishma Grande in Calangute village, within the early hours of Sunday, additionally seized round Rs 10 lakh in money, 57 cell phones and gambling-related paraphernalia.

“The 42 persons who were arrested were mostly from Gujarat, Maharashtra and Delhi. Two rooms on the fifth floor of the said hotel were used for the above gambling activity,” the spokesperson mentioned.

The police have booked the accused beneath Sections three and four of the Goa, Daman and Diu Gambling Act. — IANS
